We are a family owned business, a partnership (Nathan and Angie), and a chef who became part of the family (Navarre).
When one day Navarre bought some bulk tomatoes and we had out first "tomato day" in Nathan and Angies kitchen, Nathan fell in love with the idea of all things bottled and preserved.

Angie had been working in, and owned restaurants and bars for many years, but the humble beginnings of her original cafe and gourmet providore (The Beaufort Street Merchant, which she had owned with her brother and Mum) beckoned to be revived. Nathan had been working in the corporate world his entire life and was itching to sink his teeth into the world of sustainable food processes and breaking out on his own. Navarre had been working with Angie for many years and his passion for food was undeniable, he was ready to branch out and start a food venue for himself.   

Blake Street Merchant was born.... all over a few bottles of tomato passata.
